May help in the relief of the symptoms of indigestion and heartburn experienced by patients with:

Gastric hyperacidity;Heartburn;Gastritis;Hiatus hernia;Gastro-oesophageal reflux;Peptic ulcer;Stomach upset.


Your doctor will be able to advise if this product is suitable for you. Consult your doctor before taking any medication or supplement.

The active ingredient neutralises excess acid produced by the stomach, thereby reducing the burning symptoms associated with indigestion.

Dose information

Adults:? Chew 1-2 tablets after food Maximum 16 tablets per day Children: Suitable for use in children aged over 6 onlyChew 1 tablet after food Maximum 8 tablets per day

Contraindications

Severe hypokalaemia or metabolic acidosis.


Precautions

Must be used with caution in patients with:

Renal impairment Dehydration and electrolyte imbalance Elevated vitamin D levels (eg: sarcoidosis)


Drug interactions

Thiazide diuretics: May increase the renal reabsorption of calcium leading to hypercalcaemia in people taking large amounts of the antacid. Do not?take within 2-3 hours of each other;Tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones, salicylates, iron: May interfere with the absorption of these drugs. Do not?take within 2-3 hours of each other


Pregnancy and lactation

Not suitable for use in the first trimester without consultation with a doctor;Use as directed on the pack after the first trimester;Do not exceed packet directions.


Children

Not recommended in children under 6 years of age.

Sandocal may cause:

Constipation;Stomach bloating;Flatulence;Belching.


If too much calcium is administered, the body may begin to show signs of hypercalcaemia:

Constipation;Severe dry mouth;Headache;Continuing increased thirst;Irritability;Loss of appetite;Depression.


Overdose symptoms are more likely to occur if large amounts are taken over a long period of time. Hypercalcaemic syndrome may occur, the early symptoms of which are:

Drowsiness;Continued nausea and vomiting;Weakness;Kidney stones.


Mild hypercalcaemia resolves on its own or may require some rehydration. Late symptoms of hypercalcaemia include:

Confusion;High blood pressure;Photosensitivity;Irregular heartbeat;Nausea and vomiting;Increased frequency or amount of urination.


The product must be ceased immediately and oral or intravenous rehydration must be administered depending on the severity of the hypercalcaemic syndrome.

Allergies to the ingredients used in this product may still develop. Typical allergic symptoms include:

Severe swelling;?Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath.
